Only little is left over form the town's fortress facility.�The Fleischerbastei (Butcher-Bastion) at the�Gr�nen Ring is one of 13 fortresses, which reinforced the outer town wall. The building carries the name Fleischerbastei, because men form the butcher guild had to safeguard this�section of the town wall during the danger of war.�The Fleischerbastei was used for meetings and events, as granary and military hospital. It became late a town garden centre and residential building.
